Tollywood's top female leads of this decade. These women have not just made a mark for themselves in this extremely competitive, multi-million dollar industry, but have also had their share of frenzied fan legions.
Here are the top 10 hotties of Tollywood. We review their performances and recap their ups and downs for you to choose the top Tollywood female lead of the decade.
Bhumika Chawla
Here's one actress from the Telugu film industry, who has stood her ground in the face of changing Box Office fortunes. Debuting with 'Yuvakudu' at the end of the last century, her rise to fame was with 'Khushi' (2001); she won the Filmfare best actress award for this role.
'Snehamante Idera' was released in the same year, but went down without much luck. While 'Vasu' (2002) was declared an average hit, 'Okkadu' (2003) became a blockbuster.
'Simhadri (2003) too became a mega hit and Bhumika definitely was the topper of the year. 'Missamma' (2003) saw her play an offbeat character, and won the Nandi award for best actress. However, 2004 wasn't that favorable a year, as both her films, 'Samba' and 'Na Autograph' bombed at the Box Office The latter won her the CineMAA award for best actress.
'Jai Chiranjeeva' (2005) opened to huge expectations as she was cast opposite Chiranjeevi, but the film ended up a no-show.
Between 2006 and '2009, Bhumika starred in 'Mayabazaar', 'Sathyabhama', 'Anasuya', 'Swagatham', 'Mallepuvu' and 'Amarvathi'. Although these films did mediocre business at the Box Office, Bhumika's choice of roles was lauded by her fans as well as critics.
Trisha Krishnan
If there's one actress who has consistently managed to top T'wood box office charts in the past decade, it has to be Trisha. Although she had appeared in a few Tamil films and bagged awards for her performances, viewers in Andhra had to wait till 2004 to a glimpse of her.
With 'Varsham', Trisha arrived in Tollywood with a bang! For her role as Sailaja, she won 3 awards for best actress - a record unparalleled by any movie debutante in this part of the world!
In mid 2005, Trisha starred in 'Athadu', alongside Mahesh Babu. The film was super hit and her fans' circle kept growing. Though her next release, 'Allari Bullodu', bombed, she was undeterred in her dash to the top.
Trisha had a dull 2006, as three of her films - 'Pournami', 'Stalin', and 'Sainikudu' - didn't do much business.
Trisha struck back with another award-winning performance in 'Aaduvaru Matalaku..' (2007). Trisha's last release in 2008 ('Bujjigadu'), however, was a disappointing fare.
Anushka Shetty
Although Anushka's debut in Tollywood has been in the later part of this decade, her rise to stardom has been mercurial. This yoga trainer-turned-actress has left men gasping for breath, with her charm.
When 'Super' released towards the end of 2004, film buffs in Andhra were expecting to see Nagarjuna in a new role. However, the film saw debutante Anushka walk away with all the glory. There has been no looking back, ever since.
Anushka scored the biggest hit of 2005 with 'Vikramarkudu'. Here finally was an actress who could do girl-next-door roles as well as the glamourous ones with equal ease.
Post 'Vikramarkudu', Anushka did movies that went mostly unnoticed. Despite being cast opposite top Tollywood heroes, films such as 'Stalin', 'Astram', 'Lakshyam', 'Don', 'Okka Magadu', 'Swagatham', 'Baladoor', 'Souryam', and 'Chintakayala Ravi' didn't do very well at the box office.
Anushka bounced back in 2009 with the periodic drama, 'Arundhati', which won her huge acclaim; the movie was a great commercial success as well. She won the Nandi award for her performance in the film.
Ileana D'Cruz
Before making her debut in the not-so-popular 'Devadasu' (2006), Ileana D'Cruz was a model based in Mumbai.
Ileana's big ticket to stardom was Mahesh Babu's cult classic 'Pokiri'. The movie became one of the all-time buck-bags of Telugu cinema.
Towards the end of 2006 and 2007, her releases such as 'Khatarnak', 'Rakhi', 'Munna', and 'Aata' didn't do well at the Box Office
In 2008, she starred in 'Jalsa' and 'Bhale Dongalu'. The former was declared a hit for its peppy music. 'Bhale Dongalu', a remake of ' Bunty aur Babli', was a flop.
'Kick' (2009) won Ileana the critics' nod. The film was huge hit as well. However, her latest release, 'Saleem', has logged out of the Box Office with a whimper.
Shriya Saran
When Shriya debuted in Tollywood with 'Ishtam' (2001), few from the Telugu film industry expected the petite lass to make it big; people had already started writing her off. The film didn't well at the Box Office but did a great deal in giving Shriya a headstart.
Her big hit arrived with 'Santosham', in 2002. Audiences liked the way she carried herself on screen with ease and flair. 'Chenna Kesava Reddy' and 'Neeku Nenu Naaku Nuvvu' were average hits but gave viewers more of Shriya, the star!
Starring with Megastar Chiranjeevi in 'Tagore', Shriya mesmerized fans with her glam show. This film went on to become one of the biggest hits of the decade.
Between 2004 and 2007, Shriya starred in over nine films, of which only 'Chatrapathi' was a super hit. 'Balu', 'Subhash Chandra Bose' and 'Nenunnanu' were moderate hits.
In the past few years, Shriya's notable hits in the Telugu industry have been few. Her fans got glimpses of her in Bollywood/ Hollywood flicks.
Sneha
Sneha's debut in Telugu cinema was in 2001. The film, 'Priyamaina Neeku', was a huge hit. A resounding debut it was!
She came back with another hit in 2002, which did wonders to boost her career. Though 'Hanuman Junction' was a multi-starrer, her role as Meenakshi was noticed and won her a lot of fans.
By 2003, Sneha was busy doing projects in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Her next release in Tollyville was 'Venky' (2004); the film did average business.
Sneha did four films between 2005 and 2007, and all three were decent hits.
Though Sneha has a strong fan base in Tollywood, she is yet to top the Telugu cinema charts as the most sought-after actress.
Genelia D'Souza
Popularly known as 'Haasini', for her role in the super-duper family entertainer, 'Bommarillu', Genelia D'Souza has come quite a mile in the Telugu film industry since her debut in 2003.
Her debut film, 'Satyam', saw Genelia play the role of a bubbly medical student. Paired with Sumanth, the film was declared a hit within two weeks of release.
The following year, 2004, saw two of her films succeed at the Box Office - 'Samba' and 'Sye'. Genelia was gaining ground in the industry. Both her films in 2005 - 'Na Alludu' and 'Subhash Chandra Bose' - turned out to be just moderate hits.
The year 2006 has probably been her best of this decade, as 'Happy' and 'Bommarillu' became huge hits. Genelia won three top awards for her performance in 'Bommarillu' - The Nandi, Telugu Filmfare and Santosham awards.
Her last few releases have also done well at the Box Office and Genelia continues to leave an impression with each new movie of hers.
Simran
Audiences will remember Simran for her memorable roles in the blockbuster movies that were released during the first half of the decade.
Her films with Chiranjeevi in 2001 - 'Mrigaraju' and 'Daddy' - opened to record-breaking numbers but soon lost out and ended up being moderate hits. However, 'Narsimha Naidu' (2001) became a massive hit.
By 2002, Simran had begun to do more films in Tamil than Telugu. In 2003, she returned to Telugu with 'Seethayya', which was declared an average hit.
There was a long break following 'Seethayya', and Simran came back with a cameo in 'Vijayadasami'; the film was a flop. Her next release, 'Oka Mogaadu', also didn't do as well as expected.
'John Apparao 40 plus', a comedy film starring Simran in the lead, released in 2008 and was a moderate success.
Charmme Kaur
Though Charmme took a while to gain foothold in the industry, she ensured her roles found both applause and returns at the box office. She debuted in 2002 with 'Nee Thodu Kaavali'. Though the film bombed, her role as a home-maker didn't go unnoticed.
Charmme's next releases, such as 'Neeke Manasichaanu' and 'Sri Anjaneyam', failed to make it big. 'Gowri' (2004) testified to her skills as an actor and a dancer. Her next release, 'Mass', (with Nagarjuna) became a huge hit.
Four films of Charmme's were released in 2005, out of which her most notable performance was as Sahasra in the thriller, 'Anukokunda Oka Roju'. She won the Santosham and CineMAA best actress awards for the performance.
The last few years have seen the release of almost a dozen flicks with Charmme in the lead but none of them have been able to repeat the success of her earlier films.
Asin Thottumkal
A super-hit debut is what every actor dreams of in the film industry. And Asin is one of the lucky few who have struck gold with her first release. 'Amma, Nana, O Tamil Ammayi' (2003) was a huge success at the Box Office, and Asin won the Filmfare best Telugu actress award for her portrayal.
Her next releases, 'Sivamani' and 'Laxmi Narsimha', turned out to be average hits.
Paired with Venkatesh in her next release, Asin took a giant leap with 'Gharshana'. The film was super hit and Asin won laurels from both fans and critics.
Though Asin hasn't had many Telugu releases in the past few years, dubbed versions of her Tamil movies have kept her at the helm of Box Office charts. 'Ghajini' was one such blockbuster. Her last film in Telugu, 'Annavaram', was also a hit.

Shriya Saran
When Shriya debuted in Tollywood with 'Ishtam' (2001), few from the Telugu film industry expected the petite lass to make it big; people had already started writing her off. The film didn't well at the Box Office but did a great deal in giving Shriya a headstart.

Illeana Telugu Actress Hot
